Holy Smokers

bbqThe Holy Smokers are a group of men, women, and children and families with an interest in cooking or working around bar-be-cue pits.  The group uses their God given gifts of cooking and/or other skills to prepare and cook food to support a variety of Bethany activities.  Funds raised by the group have been used to buy Bibles, hymnals, TV and video equipment used throughout the church and support youth programs at Bethany. The Holy Smokers do most of their cooking at the Bar-be-cue pits located on the Bethany grounds. We encourage anyone interested in this type of ministry to join us. We especially like it when the entire family gets involved. This enables us to pass on our cooking knowledge to the next generation of Holy Smokers, so they can continue providing this type of ministry support to the Bethany family.

Bethany Gardeners

Calling all gardening enthusiasts! Our goal is to help keep the grounds of our church beautiful and welcoming.  We plan several work days each year for church members to help with planting, weeding, and general maintenance of the flower beds.  This is a great opportunity to meet and work with fellow gardening enthusiasts while helping to beautify the church property.

Flower beds can be "adopted" by GIFT Groups, Sunday School classes, youth groups, or families.  Several areas have been adopted by GIFT groups or families but we have more that need to be adopted.  By adopting a flower bed or specific area within a large bed you would help maintain it throughout the year on your schedule.

Camping Trips

campingOur current pattern is to offer at least two Bethany camping trips each year, one in spring and one in fall. These are open to anyone choosing to associate with Bethany, the larger Bethany family, if you will. Our purpose: to enjoy being in touch with God’s creation in the company of like-minded friends, to spend a little time speaking and singing His praises, and to help build and strengthen friendships. At times we also may plan additional trips. Contact Mark Boerger with questions about any of these, or to express your interest. Our upcoming trips:

Fall 2014, Fall Family Campout - Join the group for another fall time camping trip.

Bethany Spring Campout, April 25-27, South Llano River State Park – Last spring, we found this to be a great place!  It’s located near Junction, TX, about 2.5 hours west of here. Activities include camping, canoeing, tubing, swimming, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, bird watching and nature study; apparently this is a hot spot for wild turkeys, as well as migratory birds.  There are 18 miles of hiking/biking trails, and 58 full campsites.  And if you like the night sky, there will be almost no moon that weekend. Whether you’re a single or couple, married with kids, single parent, etc., you’ll fit right in.  Plan on joining us; we’ll ask for registration before long. For more information or to reserve your spot, contact Mark Boerger.

April 23 - After the Attack
April 30 - Life's Myths

Join us on Wednesdays from 9:30-10:30AM or 7:15-8:15PM to gather to explore life and faith.  The hour-long experience features real stories of real people, friendly conversation, time to build relationships with new and old friends, laughter, fun, spiritual insights, and opportunities to serve in the local community.  Free admission…doors open at 9AM in the Community Life Center Sr. Youth Room. Follow the green signs! For more information, please contact Mark Boerger .
