Where did this Magma-thing come from?

So I ended the question there with a preposition. But I digress...Goin' Magma...We were smack in the middle of an in-depth devotional at KREED and one of our 8th grade guys asked what we like to call a "deep question." Our mission team had begun using the phrase "goin' deep" whenever we took our faith expression to a subsurface level and really allowed the Spirit to utter words that at times were mind-boggling. This manfolk (my name for uh, males) named Adam asked a question in reponse to our discussion about deception. I raised these questions. When we allow another to take the blame for something we did do, is this deception? And conversely, when we take the blame for something we didn't do, is this deception? Adam asked, "If Jesus took the blame for something he didn't do, was he being deceptive?" We all know Jesus was perfect, sinless, holy, there was no deceit in his mouth. But how to answer this question was the next step. When reflecting on this in terms of Jesus, the discussion became complicated and very interesting. I decided that this question would be the topic for the AM Watch on the following Sunday and after some discussion, we began our KREED event for that night. We were playing Simpson's Clue and when each team came to the Kwikimart, which is where I was, I required them to answer Adam's question. One gal who we call Murph commented that his question was deep. She said he went magma-level deep. And alas, the phrase stuck. The mission team this year has taken the phrase to another level by looking at how God's depth goes way beyond what we can possibly measure, far beyond even magma-level.
