GO!

Jesus is risen!  As the first Christian Church exploded into Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth, we are also called to proclaim the good news of the empty tomb to all people. Check out the links to learn more about the mission teams that your are sending out from Bethany!  And continue to lift these teams in prayer.

Plans for 2008

At Bethany Lutheran Church there are many opportunities for mission and service in the year of 2008.  Four mission trips have, or will, take place in a span of only 6 months.  Various members of Bethany, of all different ages, will serve, help, and minister to four separate communities throughout the year. Each mission group will be serving people in unique ways, but all hope to bring God’s love to a hurting world.

Tunica

In January, 13 people went to Tunica, Mississippi where they ministered to the youth by leading an After Christmas Carnival (a mini VBS). Each day they shared a drama and led singing, crafts, and games.  They also cared for the elderly and infirmed in the local nursing home and worshiped and prayed with church leaders from several congregations in the area to encourage unity in the body of Christ.  The women on this trip also worked with young adult and teen moms and helped them to set goals for their future.

El Paso (Spring 2008)

Thirty-one of Bethany’s youth and adults will be taking part in a mission trip to Ysleta Lutheran Mission in El Paso, TX and Juarez, Mexico in March. While there, they will build two houses for the people of Juarez and engage the Mexican youth in Vacation Bible School. In the VBS, the story of Jesus will be shared, games will be played, songs sung, and relationships built.

New Orleans (July 6-11)

On July 6th -11th around twenty youth and twelve adults will be heading to New Orleans for a week-long mission trip.  While on the trip they will be doing a variety of task from help cleaning out houses, to rebuilding homes, churches, painting, restoration projects, landscaping, and various other items that need to be done.  Not only will they help restore people’s personal possessions, but they help restore people’s lives, hope, and faith.  New Orleans is the ultimate form of taking the gospel out into the world as the mission team both physically and spiritually impacts people’s lives for Christ.  Pray that Christ would use this group to continue to assure people of God’s presence and goodness!

Dallas (July 19-26)

Twenty middle school youth and 8 adults of Bethany are headed to Dallas Texas from July 19-26.   While in Dallas this mission team will lead an inner-city Vacation Bible School of games, songs, Bible lessons, dramas and crafts.  They will also have a chance to serve in a soup kitchen, work in the community by doing light construction and yard clean up and serve in an inner city health clinic.  The middle school team hopes to build many relationships with the people they meet by sharing, listening, and serving in any way possible.

Thank you for your support of the members of Bethany Lutheran Church.  Your contribution is helping them to withdraw from their ordinary culture in Austin and immerse themselves in a new environment where they can bring the love of God to various distressed communities. Many people from around the world will be helped and loved because of your support.  Thank you and God bless you.

Our Vision for Missions

Through cultural emersion, we hope to raise up leaders who will be missionaries in their own community by providing them with hands on training and opportunities to take their walk with Christ to a deeper level.

Thank you to everyone who supported our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament.  The tournament was a huge success as we had 51 golfers, great weather, and great fellowship.  Thank you to all of this year’s donors and sponsors!  A big thank you to everyone who served on the chairing committee for the tournament.  We greatly appreciate your help and dedication with making this tournament successful.  This year’s funds will be used to help support missionaries from Bethany going on trips to New Orleans, Dallas, Tunica, and more.  God Bless each of you as you continue to serve and support Bethany Missions.  Landon and Kim
