Holy Communion
The sacrament is celebrated every Sunday at all worship services. The people of Bethany believe that Holy Communion is a special gift of God to His Church. From our understanding of the Bible and our concern for people, we ask that those who receive Holy Communion:

  1. Be baptized Christians;
  2. Should have received special instruction concerning the nature and meaning of Holy Communion;
  3. Are mature enough to recognize and confess their sin and need for God's grace through this special means of grace;
  4. Believe that they are receiving the real body and blood of Jesus as they receive the bread and wine;
  5. Believe Jesus' words: "Given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins";
  6. Recognize their participation at Holy Communion here indicates their agreement with this understanding of Holy Communion.

All persons who receive Holy Communion at Bethany Lutheran Church should acknowledge these teachings and affirm them.

Parents, please note that children at Bethany are instructed in the meaning of Holy Communion in the fifth grade. Prior to receiving this instruction the children come forward to receive a blessing. Children coming forward to receive a blessing are asked to fold their arms across their chest to assist those serving communion in recognizing who is to receive it. If you have any questions, you may speak with a Pastor or call the church office at 292-8778
to meet with a Pastor.

Nursery
A fully staffed nursery is located down the corridor on your right as you face the altar for children six months to three years. If you need assistance, ask host or hostess. While we encourage families to worship together, we ask all present to respect the worship of others. If your child becomes restless, please step outside the worship area or use the Cry Room at the right rear of the Worship Center.

Flowers, Shrubs, and Trees Chart
Many of you provide altar flowers on a given Sunday in memory of a loved one or in thanksgiving for a special person or event. Since the “Flower Chart” fills up rapidly at the beginning of the year, you will now have the opportunity to provide this same expression of love and thanksgiving by contributing to a fund that will purchase flowers and shrubs to enhance the beauty of our property. We ask a contribution of $25.00, the same as the cost of an altar flower arrangement. Should you desire to provide a tree, please contact Cindy McCormick for more details as trees are more expensive.
