2010 National Youth Gathering July 17-21 in New Orleans
Over the last 30 years, The National Youth Gathering has drawn over 35,000 high school and college age youth (youth entering 9th grade in Fall of 2010 to those in college under 21). Spiritual lives will be touched in ways that will be indescribable for many and the hearts and faith of our youth will forever be blessed through this experience. Did you know that currently 44 youth and 8 adults are signed up? This is the first time that Bethany Youth have been called to this experience. They will share this experience with over 35,000 others also attending the gathering. Please keep our kids and adults in prayer as they continue to prepare for this event. You support for this event is greatly appreciated. National Youth Gathering Update Right now we are getting close to our fundraising goals thanks to the hard work from each of you. We raised over $1000 for the youth auction, about $1000 from the subs and about an additional $1000 from the Fish fry. Currently we have scheduled the rest of our fundraisers off site (away from Bethany) which will take place as restaurant fundraisers. More details will be coming forth via email about our March Fundraiser at BJ’s restaurant. Currently there are 58 people signed up to attend the youth gathering with a cap of 60. I have started a waiting list if you know anyone who would like to be on it, please let me know. Finally, after we get through with the school year we will have two information/bonding meetings (before attending the gathering) that all participants will be expected to be at. |
July 17-21, 2010 LOOK LISTEN LIVE Pumpkin Fundraiser The pumpkin fundraiser was a complete success. Thank you so much to all of you who helped make the pumpkin patch such a huge success. We couldn’t have done it without each of you selling pumpkins, baking baked goods, etc…We sold over $13,000 worth of pumpkins. We profited well over $5,000 from the patch, bake sale, and donations. We estimate that we still have over $4000 to fundraise so it is important that everyone pitches in. Youth Job Board By the time you get this newsletter, directly across the hall from the youth room will be a youth job board. This is a spot where anyone in need of youth helpers or workers, can come take the information of our youth gathering students and personally hire them for a job. This could be for yard work, babysitting, etc… It is similar to the youth auction we just had, except this will be a chance for the youth gathering participant to put money in their own pocket towards their trip expenses. Spread the word and encourage people to stop by the youth board.
