DECEMBER EVENTS

Greetings in Jesus,

Have you ever waited for a gift to come for a long period of time?  How do you pass the time of waiting?  I can remember as a kid waiting for my birthday to arrive so that I could get lots of presents, cake, and enjoy the company of my family at the party.  I always remember the eager anticipation of mashed potatoes with melted butter on Thanksgiving Day.  I even see the anticipation my children have now that the Christmas decorations are up.  They ask every night when Santa will be coming to visit our house.  They ask if they have been good enough to be on Santa’s good list today, in anticipation of all of those gifts on Christmas morning.

What my little boys don’t understand yet is that Christmas is more than the gifts, more than Santa, and more than anticipation of opening presents.  This time of year is about anticipation of the greatest gift ever given in love from God, that which was Jesus.  We may all be preparing for events in our life like weddings, jobs, school, relationships, or many other things that are going on.  May we all take time to make preparation in our life for the reason we are in anticipation.  As it says about the shepherds keeping watch in the fields in Luke, may we all prepare for the arrival of our Savior.  May we watch for His arrival that we too may stand and say “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.”  Luke 2:14

Merry Christmas to you all,

NOTE FROM THE BECKER’S….

We are all doing well in the Becker Family.  We have had a very busy fall semester and are looking forward to wonderful time together over the Christmas holiday.   Hope is in first grade and has had an amazing year of school.  Hope’s favorite past time has quickly become reading as she continues to get better and better at it.  Brady and Karson finished their first soccer season this fall and had a blast doing it.  They also did swimming lessons which also kept them very busy.  Amanda is still teaching 3rd grade and loving it.  I have been busy fixing our house as it seems to need something new fixed every day.  Amanda and I will celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary over new years.  I am so thankful for my wife and three beautiful children.  Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
